Bronsealderen Bronse Arrowhead Group (3) (Ingen reservasjonspris)

A group of three Bronze Age bronze arrowheads. Two of the three arrowheads feature triangular blades with a prominent central midrib that leads to a short stem and narrow tang. One of the two arrowheads features square shoulders, whilst the other feature downward sloping shoulders, creating shallow barbs, though one has now been chipped. One arrowhead features a leaf-shaped blade, with upward sloping shoulders, with a prominent central midrib that leads to a short stem and short, narrow tang. Patination and earthly encrustations to the surface. Signs of wear as consistent with age, such as chips to the edges and shoulders, scratches, and surface roughness. In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites, settled in the Western Asiatic area. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of the bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Excavated items often included weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Everyday objects are also found including pins and bracelets. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons. Archaeological evidence suggests that the bronze objects often serve ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts. Measurements: (circa) L 10-10.2cm x W 2-2.4cm Provenance: Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 - present.
