– Rosewood Box with Bone Inlay and Silver Accessories – ca. 1870 We offer for sale a complete set of period embroidery, an authentic “Nécessaire de Couture” from the Second French Empire (Napoleon III). The object is a rare collector’s item, created by the renowned Parisian atelier Yvonet & Cie, whose signature guarantees the quality and luxury of 19th century French craftsmanship. The box is handmade from dark rosewood, with an elegant “en arbalète” (curved lines) silhouette.   The lid is decorated with fine bone marquetry, representing a detailed engraved female silhouette (lady in period dress). The incision technique is highlighted by black pigment for a special contrast.  The hinges and the opening button are made of original brass. Workshop Secret: The interior is equipped with a removable tray covered in red velvet. Underneath this is the secondary storage compartment, where the assembly number "13" is visible, written in pencil - a rare technical mark that attests to the manual assembly and the uniqueness of the piece within the workshop. Secret tickets were often kept. Silver Utensils and Markings: The set contains the original tools, uniformly decorated with floral and rococo motifs: Needle case (marked): Presents the complete set of official punches: “Boar’s Head” (Tête de Sanglier) – the symbol of Paris silver (min. purity 800/1000) and the Meister Rhombus of the Yvonet & Cie workshop, containing the initials Y [flower] C. Embroidery scissors: With richly ornamented silver handles and fine steel blades. Thimble: Made of silver, with a matching engraved pattern. Awl: For perforating materials. Condition: The set is complete and is in a remarkable state of preservation for its age (over 150 years old). The wood retains its natural luster, the inlay is intact, and the closing mechanism is perfectly functional. The silver pieces have a noble patina, not being excessively cleaned to preserve the historical value. Technical Specifications: Origin: Paris, France. Period: ca. 1870 (Napoleon III). Materials: Solid Silver, Rosewood, Bone, Velvet, Brass. Author: Yvonet & Cie (Mark Y [flower] C). Please view the images carefully before bidding. Thank you!
