Rare Vintage Polish Kilim Runner — Handwoven Wool, Geometric Diamond Pattern, circa 1930s A rare and beautiful vintage flatweave kilim runner, hand-woven in Poland, estimated to date from the 1930s. This is a fine and early example of traditional Polish folk textile craft, showcasing bold geometric patterns deeply rooted in the centuries-old weaving heritage of the region. The rug features a repeated diamond motif in the centre, framed by bold geometric shapes and decorative borders. The colour palette is rich and vibrant — deep burgundy borders frame a composition of ivory, warm grey, orange, red and magenta, creating a striking visual rhythm along the entire length of the runner. The construction is of exceptional quality: the weft is thick and woolly, the weave is dense and even, and the fringed ends are made from natural linen or cotton, hand-knotted in the traditional pre-war manner. These features are fully consistent with Polish folk weaving traditions of the interwar period (1918–1939), when handwoven kilims were produced in rural workshops and folk art cooperatives across Poland. This is a rare survivor from the pre-war period — a piece of authentic Polish folk heritage with significant historical and decorative value, perfect for a serious collector of Eastern European textiles. Details: Type: Kilim flatweave runner Origin: Poland Period: circa 1930s (interwar period) Material: Wool (weft), linen/cotton (warp/fringe) Pattern: Geometric diamonds, folk motifs Colours: Burgundy, ivory, grey, orange, red, magenta Ends: Natural hand-knotted fringe
