Flaskesett (3) - Repoussé-dekor - Sølv - Angloindisk Kutch ca. 1900
An antique Anglo-Indian silver cruet set, likely originating from the Kutch region of India, dating to circa 1900.
The set comprises three individual pieces:
- a lidded mustard pot, of rounded form, raised on three feet and richly decorated in repoussé with dense floral scrollwork;
- a salt, of matching design, similarly raised and decorated;
- a pepperette, of baluster form with pierced top, echoing the same ornate repoussé decoration and standing on small feet.
Each piece is finely hand-worked, displaying the characteristic lively, slightly irregular detailing associated with Kutch silverwork produced for the colonial export market. Silver from the Kutch region (Gujarat, western India) is particularly renowned for its elaborate repoussé decoration, created by skilled artisans working for European clientele during the late 19th and early 20th century.
The salt container bears a small stamp to the base, likely a local workshop or bazaar mark, consistent with Anglo-Indian silver of this type.
The pieces have been acid tested and confirmed as silver, with interiors and overall patina consistent with their age.
A highly decorative and collectible ensemble, representative of Anglo-Indian craftsmanship and well suited for both display and use.
