Ancient Roman bronze seal ring with a broad hoop. The oval bezel is engraved with the intaglio bust of a bearded male figure, possibly Zeus.. The bezel is set vertically and was intended to serve both as an ornament and as a personal seal. -> Seal rings were not only worn as jewellery in the ancient Roman world, but could also be used to impress a design into wax or clay. They combined personal adornment with practical daily use. Condition: Good ancient condition with age-related wear, surface irregularities, and encrustations. The engraved bezel remains visible.
