Sofabord - Furutre - inspirert av P.E.L. Izeren

A striking Dutch Art Deco Side Table, inspired by P.E.L. Izeren / Genneper Molen, c. 1930s–1940s Pine with black-stained wooden accents A piece with a strong Amsterdam School presence. The design immediately recalls the celebrated Izeren / Genneper Molen language: the vertical uprights, and the dark accent slats that give the base its graphic rhythm. It has an architectural stance: compact, but with a lot of character packed into it. This is not an original Genneper Molen table, and it differs in several important ways from Izeren’s documented versions. The wood is much lighter - lightweight pine rather than the heavier oak used for the Genneper Molen pieces. The dark vertical accents are also not coromandel or macassar ebony, but black-stained wood. The proportions are a bit larger with a height of 53 cm and a 36 x 36 cm top. That said, the table really does look the part. Whoever made it understood the visual vocabulary very well: the upright rhythm, the black linear accents, the stepped base and the square top all give it the unmistakable flavour of Dutch Art Deco modernism. It may well have been made in the 1930s or 1940s by someone who admired the Genneper Molen design and made a more accessible version. The construction is straightforward and charming. The top consists of two planks, with the joint clearly visible down the centre. This is part of the table’s honest handmade character and also underlines that it is not a factory-perfect luxury version, but a period-inspired piece with its own story. A very decorative and useful small table, perfect as a side table, plant stand, lamp table or display pedestal. It combines especially well with Amsterdam School, Hague School and other Dutch Art Deco interiors, but is modest enough to slip into a modern room. It has the right silhouette, the right attitude and a pleasingly mysterious backstory. Dimensions: Height: 53 cm Top: 36 x 36 cm
