Mitsubishi Pencil Co., Ltd.(三菱鉛筆株式会社) - Blyantspisser

Item Description A charming piece of Japanese Showa-era stationery history — the Mitsubishi Pencil Co. HS-125 "Rattatta" Manual Pencil Sharpener, manufactured by Mitsubishi Pencil Co., Ltd. in Japan during the 1970s–1980s. This vibrant red desktop pencil sharpener is instantly eye-catching, adorned with a three-dimensional relief mascot badge on the side: "Rattatta," a cheerful yellow mouse character holding a pencil — the official mascot of this Mitsubishi sharpener line. The name "Rattatta" is embossed on a red oval banner beneath the cartoon figure, giving the piece a playful, toy-like appeal that makes it as much a display piece as a functional tool. The body features a bold red ribbed plastic casing, a polished chrome-finish metal sharpening head with an oval-shaped pencil entry port, and a removable smoke-tinted transparent shavings collection drawer branded with the Mitsubishi logo. The right side is fitted with a black hand-crank mechanism for manual operation. Two black adjustment knobs on top allow selection of pencil diameter. The unit also retains its desk-clamp mounting bracket, which attaches to the side for secure tabletop use. The original box (MITSUBISHI SHARPENER, model HS-125) is included, displaying the bold graphic typography typical of the era, though it shows significant aging and deterioration consistent with decades of storage. A genuine vintage collectible from Japan's golden age of stationery design, the Rattatta sharpener is a delightful combination of industrial craft and kawaii character culture — perfect for collectors of Showa retro goods, Japanese stationery, or mid-century design objects. Size Height: 14 cm Width: 8 cm Depth: 15 cm Weight 362 g Condition The sharpener itself is in good used condition with minor dust and light surface marks consistent with age; the original box is heavily deteriorated with significant staining, peeling, crushing, and edge damage, but remains intact as a set piece. NOITICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Sometimes Customes or delivery company in your country contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you could answer the phone. If you don't, the parcel will return to me and it cost more double shipping fee for reshipping. I appreciate your cooperation.
