Oljelampe - Alabst, Bronse, Glass - Belle Époque
Antique oil lamp from the Belle Époque period, dating to approximately 1870–1900, almost certainly of French manufacture — confirmed by the acid-etched maker's mark on the chimney glass: a royal crown cartouche, the inscription "Made in France" and burner size number 14.
The column is turned from a single piece of genuine white alabaster, seated upon a stepped square base incorporating an inset alabaster panel framed in cast and chased ormolu-style brass. The base stands on four cast feet in the form of ram's head scrolls — a hallmark of the Napoleon III neoclassical aesthetic. The oil font is a globe of hand-blown, deeply cut emerald-green crystal displaying a bold geometric star-and-diamond pattern, secured in a precision-fitted brass collar with lateral wick-adjustment wheel and a finely pierced Gothic crown gallery.
Good antique condition. Age-appropriate patina throughout. Alabaster column and crystal font are intact with no chips or cracks. Brass shows natural tarnish consistent with age. Original mechanism complete and functional.
The brass burner collar/gallery presents several hairline cracks, visible in the photographs. This is an aesthetic issue only and does not affect the structural integrity or display of the lamp.
