Tallerken - Porselen - Kangxi-plate

A Fine Kangxi Period Blue and White Iron-Red Saucer with Later European Enamels and Gilding This attractive Chinese export saucer dates to the Kangxi period (1662–1722), and features a finely painted central landscape scene in underglaze blue, depicting figures, pavilions, trees, and distant mountains in the characteristic style of early Qing export porcelain. The exterior is decorated with delicate iron-red floral and fruit sprigs, a decorative scheme frequently encountered on high-quality Kangxi wares intended for the European market. Following its arrival in Europe during the early 18th century, the saucer was further embellished with colourful enamels and extensive gilding, reflecting the fashionable taste of the Rococo period. The mint-green ground border, floral ornamentation, and rich gilded details create a fascinating fusion of Chinese craftsmanship and European decorative arts, making this an excellent example of cross-cultural porcelain produced during the great age of international trade. Such pieces are highly regarded by collectors as they illustrate the journey of Chinese porcelain from the kilns of Jingdezhen to the workshops and aristocratic households of Europe. Diameter: 16.5 cm Condition: The rim displays areas of fritting and glaze loss, a common feature found on many early Kangxi export porcelains due to firing characteristics and age-related wear. The decoration remains vibrant, with good preservation of the later European enamels and gilding. No major restoration has been detected. A charming and historically significant example of Kangxi export porcelain enhanced in Europe, representing the artistic dialogue between East and West during the early 18th century.
