Hagi-yaki (萩焼) - Tefat - Leire

This is a beautiful, classic Japanese Hagi-yaki (Hagi ware) matcha tea bowl from the late 20th century. Glaze & Coloration: The bowl features a warm, soft beige/biwa (loquat) colored clay body, coated with a milky-white feldspathic glaze. The primary highlight of this piece is the dramatic glaze run (yu-dare) along the lower body. Where the glaze accumulated during firing, it created a stunning, vibrant blue hue—a natural phenomenon highly prized in Japanese tea ceramics. Kannyu (Crackle Pattern): Fine crackle patterns (kannyu) run throughout the entire surface. This is a defining characteristic of Hagi ware, known for "Hagi no Nanabake" (the seven transformations of Hagi), where the color subtly ripens and changes over years of use as tea stains penetrate the crackles. Foot (Koudai): The rugged foot reveals the coarse, sand-textured clay underneath, showcasing the powerful rustic beauty and tactile contrast typical of authentic Japanese tea bowls. Dimensions & Weight: Height: 7.5 cm Diameter (Width): 11.5 cm Weight: 318 g Condition: In excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations. Ready for use or collection. NOITICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Sometimes Customes or delivery company in your country contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you could answer the phone. If you don't, the parcel will return to me and it cost more double shipping fee for reshipping. I appreciate your cooperation.
