Teboks/eske - Tre - Bambus Maki-e-design

Item Description This is a Japanese lacquerware natsume (tea caddy) decorated with a striking maki-e design. The cylindrical black lacquer body is adorned with gold and silver bamboo stalks and leaves, rendered in fine maki-e technique with sprinkled gold powder (nashiji-style ground) creating a subtle shimmering effect. The lid features a circular arrangement of overlapping bamboo leaves in varying tones of gold, with a single silver leaf accent at the center, adding depth and contrast to the composition. The piece has a snug-fitting lid that slides smoothly into the body, typical of well-crafted traditional natsume containers used in Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu) settings, though this example may equally serve as a decorative box or small storage container. The lacquer surface displays a glossy, well-preserved finish overall, with the gold maki-e work remaining crisp and clearly defined. Size Height: 6.8 cm Width: 6.8 cm Depth: 6.8 cm Weight 66 g Condition The piece is in good overall condition, with the lacquer surface and gold maki-e decoration well preserved. Only visual inspection has been performed; no signs of major damage are apparent.
