Temasamling - Statlig lotteribond (gresk 100 drachmai, 1922) - Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co

Greece - 100 Drachmae 1922 - Historic Internal Lottery Loan Bond (Forced) with Unredeemed Occupation-Era Coupon State Lottery Loan Bond, Kingdom of Greece (under King Constantine II, 1922 (March 25, 1922), 100 Drachmae (interest-bearing at 6.5%). Printer: The prestigious Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd., London. This document is a crucial economic and historical artifact from one of the most tumultuous periods in Greek history. Issued in 1922, the height of the Asia Minor Campaign, this was a forced internal loan designed to generate urgent funds for the Greek military and the collapsing state budget. The reverse features a remarkably detailed Amortization Table outlining the planned redemption of bonds and lottery winnings from 1922 until 1941. Engraved and printed by the prestigious British firm Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd. Londres, renowned for high-quality banknote engraving and anti-counterfeiting security patterns. A magnificent Neoclassical/Beaux-Arts design. The front features the Royal Greek Coat of Arms supported by the figures of Heracles and topped by the crown, framed by Corinthian columns and traditional Greek meander borders. Reverse side features a striking allegorical figure of Victory (Nike), alongside the "Amortization Table" and the detailed prize list for the lottery draws. The bond still has the final interest coupons (number 20). This coupon correspond to the year 1942. The reason this coupon was never redeemed is a direct historical record: The German invasion of Greece in April 1941 and the subsequent brutal Occupation led to the total collapse of the Greek banking system and the repudiation of pre-war state debt. The unredeemed coupon of '42 is physical proof of the suspension of Greek state services under foreign rule. This makes the document a poignant, tangible memory of the Occupation. In good condition. The paper is intact with fully legible text. The main condition issue is natural aging, with several "foxing" spots visible on both the front and back. Please study the provided high-resolution photos carefully to assess the patina and condition yourself. Strong custom made packing, registered shipping.
