Diana Canales’ paintings inhabit a space between observation and imagination. Through traditional mediums the artist transforms fragments of the natural world and the human figure into scenes that carry both familiarity and mystery. Her Costa Rican origins are present not only through her choice of natural subjects, but through a broader sensitivity to landscape, memory, and the relationship between people and their surroundings. Rather than simply reproducing what she sees, Canales uses recognizable forms as starting points for more introspective narratives, where softness can coexist with strength and beauty with a sense of unease or nostalgia. Detail plays an important role in her work, but it is contrasted by looser, more expressive passages that give the paintings a sense of movement and emotion. This tension between precision and spontaneity allows her subjects to feel both observed and imagined. "Nostalgia Polaroid" is a painting about solitude, peaceful silence and past times, maybe pain. The painted is signed on the back, it was part of a 2025 public exhibition (Call to Mind) in Amsterdam (EM Gallery) and it has been preserved in very good conditions. A certificate of authenticity will be sent with the painting. It can be shipped rolled on a heavy duty cardboard tube. Diana has live painted in the RAI Amsterdam, worked for mayor brands and has also done multiple exhibitions in Costa Rica and The Netherlands, she participated in mayor art fairs in her home country like FIA and Transitarte.
