Den nordlige Wei-dynastiet Pottery offisiell figur (Ingen reservasjonspris)

Northern Wei Dynasty Pottery Official Figure Circa 4th-6th century AD This is an interesting free-standing hollow-moulded pottery figure of a male. The figure stands with arms along the body, presenting a straight posture. Clad in a mid-length tunic, and pants with flared legs. His hair is neatly combed high, revealing a smooth forehead, while the facial features include a pleasant countenance with well-represented eyes, defined eyebrow lines, protruding nose, and small lips. The Northern Wei Dynasty, which spanned from 386 to 534 AD, marked a significant period in Chinese history. Established by Emperor Daowu, the dynasty emerged from the disintegration of the Jin Dynasty, consolidating power over northern China. This period witnessed a flourishing of Buddhist art and sculpture, contributing to the rich cultural and artistic legacy of China. A similar example can be found in the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Accession Number 35.16.
