Spring-Loaded / Push-Button Opening - Eske - Art Deco ungarsk 800 sølvkasse
Folding silver small object (originally a pocket mirror / powder compact / multifunctional case), made of 800 fineness silver, bearing the Hungarian greyhound hallmark, dating from 1922–1937.
The piece is marked both inside and on the outer opening tabs with the oval “KG” maker’s mark, attributed to a Hungarian (likely Budapest-based) silversmith working in the interwar period.
The lid and base feature engine-turned (guilloché) decoration, framed by hand-engraved foliate borders, with an empty central cartouche intended for a monogram.
The case features a spring-loaded push-button opening mechanism: the two halves are not forced apart, but opened by pressing the central release plate, which disengages the internal spring-lock.
The mirror is not glued in, but correctly sized, allowing the piece to be used as a mirror, note holder, or custom insert.
