A rare and evocative Viking bronze amulet, cast in openwork style with four stylized raven heads radiating from a central circular opening. The amulet is attached to its original twisted-link bronze chain, which shows signs of having supported multiple pendants or charms.
Ravens were sacred birds in Norse mythology, associated with Odin’s companions Huginn and Muninn, symbolizing wisdom, protection, and divine insight. Such amulets were worn for spiritual strength and guidance, often as part of larger charm necklaces.
The amulet and chain both display a beautiful green patina with areas of encrustation and fine surface texture developed over centuries of burial.
A superb and symbolic Viking artifact, combining artistry, mythology, and craftsmanship — particularly rare with the chain still attached.
