A very fine antique master 4/4 violin, labeled Carlo Antonio Testore figlio maggiore del fu Carlo Giuseppe in Contrada larga al fegno dell'Aquila Milano 1735. The instrument is in ready to play condition with some old professionally repaired cracks on top, grafted scroll, bushed peg-holes, good ebony and rosewood set up, new bridge and new strings. The violin has an excellent straight high grained spruce of the top and one piece back of narrow flamed maple with matched sides and neck. Very rich golden brown color varnish over golden ground. The whole length of the violin is 585 mm and the back 353 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 158 mm; middle bouts: 110 mm; lower bouts: 197 mm. The sound is very good, powerful, sweet, rich, suitable for soloist.
