Damaged back wax, see images. stained label Chartreuse is an herbal liqueur named after the Carthusian monastery in the French Alps and prepared by Carthusians of the Grande Chartreuse near Grenoble. The drink is made from 130 different plants, (Alpine) herbs, and spices. The basis of all liqueurs is the elixir, still made according to the complex recipe the monks obtained in 1605, which was already considered very old at the time. Elixir comes from Arabic and means "philosopher's stone." Chartreuse liqueurs are among the most complex products in the world of beverages.
