Ohi Ware Tea Bowl – by Ohi Heiroku (Kaihotsu Bunshichi) / Traditional Kanazawa Raku Pottery

This exquisite Ohi ware tea bowl was crafted by Ohi Heiroku (Kaihotsu Bunshichi), a distinguished potter from Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan.
Ohi ware, with a history of over 350 years, is a form of Raku pottery known for its hand-molded shaping (without a potter’s wheel) and its signature amber-colored glaze that gives each piece a warm, natural luster.

Each bowl is shaped entirely by hand, reflecting the Japanese spirit of wabi-sabi — the beauty of imperfection and simplicity.
It offers a gentle warmth and soft tactile feel, making it an ideal vessel for the tea ceremony and a treasured piece for collectors of Japanese art and traditional crafts.

【About Japan Antique】
One of the unique characteristics of Japanese pottery is that even pieces of the same shape can vary dramatically in price—sometimes several times, or even more than ten times—depending on subtle differences in color or pattern.
Each work is truly one of a kind, as the same design is never painted twice.
The price often reflects how beautiful the buyer finds the piece, or how strongly they feel they must have it, even if it means paying a high price.
This is one of the true joys of collecting Japanese antiques.
