Bronsealderen Bronse frontfigur (Ingen reservasjonspris)

A Bronze Age bronze spearhead, featuring a triangular blade with square shoulders and a square midrib. A short tang extends from the bottom of the blade. On either side of the central midrib is a pierced hole for a rivet, remnants of which still remain in one of the holes. The midrib is decorated with an incised zig-zag motif. A lovely green patina and earthly encrustations to the surface. Signs of wear as consistent with age such as chips to the edges of the blade, shoulders and tang, some surface pitting, and scratches. A vertical crack runs down the side of the blade, parallel to the midrib. In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites, settled in the Western Asiatic area. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of the bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Excavated items often included weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Everyday objects are also found including pins and bracelets. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons. Archaeological evidence suggests that the bronze objects often serve ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts. Measurements: L 25.2cm x W 5.1cm Provenance: Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 - present. N.B. Delivery may be longer due to the busier period and we do not guarantee delivery before Christmas. Items paid for after the 19th December will be shipped after the New Year (week commencing on the 5th January 2026). **There will be an additional fee incurred for returned shipments due to buyer’s non-response to customs enquiries and/or unsuccessful delivery attempts.**
