This magnificent large sugar bowl, crafted in 950/1000 French sterling silver, represents the height of Belle Époque artistry at the turn of the 19th to 20th century. It combines sculptural silverwork with the deep, luminous beauty of a cobalt-blue glass liner, creating a piece that is both decorative and functional. Design & Craftsmanship The silver frame is executed in a richly ornamental Art Nouveau / Rocaille-inspired style, featuring: Flowing, organic curves Scrolls and asymmetric foliage motifs Finely modelled feet rising into fluid, plant-like supports Floral garlands draped between cartouches An elegant heart-shaped central medallion Large sweeping handles with sculptural movement The lid is crowned with a finely detailed fruit and leaf finial, meticulously crafted in high relief, giving the bowl a luxurious and almost theatrical silhouette. The glass insert is an intense cobalt blue, hand-blown and perfectly fitted to the silver structure. Its colour contrasts beautifully with the soft glow of high-purity French silver, making the piece visually striking from all angles. Silver Quality & Hallmarks Standard: 950/1000 sterling silver — the highest silver purity used in French decorative arts Hallmark: Minerva head, “1” standard = guaranteed 950 silver This hallmark confirms the piece’s authenticity and prestigious French origin.
