Rare Gothic Virgin and Child — Oak — Southern Netherlands (Flemish), 15th century A rare early devotional sculpture of the Virgin Mary originally holding the Christ Child. Hand-carved from oak with still visible Gothic drapery folds and the typical stylized facial features of the period. The figure is mounted on an old iron prong likely its original attachment point from a larger architectural or altarpiece setting. Despite losses (right arm missing, Christ Child no longer present, old surface wear), the sculpture maintains its early and compelling devotional presence. A scarce survivor from the late 15th century.
