The surface is finished with gofun, a traditional white pigment made from finely ground oyster shells, imparting a smooth, pale finish typical of this mask type. The ohaguro (blackened teeth) symbolise adulthood. The expression is deliberately ambiguous — appearing serene or melancholic depending on viewing angle — allowing for subtle shifts in mood as the performer moves, giving this mask its unique emotional depth. The reverse bears the inscription: “小面 大和作 清風 平成19年10月” (Ko-Omote, made by Yamato, Seifu, October 2007). Signs of use and age include some scuffs, minor grime, a few fine paint cracks, paint chips, and blemishes. Please refer to the photos for a clear understanding of its condition. Dimensions: approx.
