A magnificent pair of hand-made vases from Val Saint Lambert in Belgium. The vases are identical and both bear a 24ct. gold-plated medallion of the provincial coat-of-arms of LIEGE in Belgium. The vases are made with the doubled crystal process, blown first with clear crystal, after which a layer of brilliant red crystal is applied and ground back to create the final design. This process was perfected by Val Saint Lambert and used extensively. Val Saint Lambert crystal has a high lead content of 33-40%, much higher than the legally required 24%. This extra lead content gives the product extra brilliance and clarity. The provincial coat-of-arms of LIEGE has been used since the founding of the province around 1815 after the fall of the French Empire (when the French Departments became provinces under the United Kingdom of the Netherlands). Perhaps the vases were made to commemorate so many years since the founding of the provinces, for example 200 years in 2015? These stunning vases will be a talking point and very RARE to find a pair! Each vase is signed on the base "Val St. Lambert". The condition is near MINT with only very slight scratching on the base due to movement. Careful packing will ensure a safe delivery.
