"Asclepios" (o Asclepius) è una celebre scultura del 1988 realizzata dallo straordinario artista polacco Igor Mitoraj (1944–2014).
L'opera incarna perfettamente la cifra stilistica del maestro, espressa attraverso una poetica che unisce la bellezza classica alla vulnerabilità della forma umana.
Rappresenta un busto maschile frammentato, privo di testa e di braccia, ispirato ad Asclepio, il dio greco della medicina e della guarigione.
La figura richiama l'ideale perfezione della statuaria antica ma al contempo ne mostra la degradazione e il danno temporale.
Sul torso sono visibili due inserti quadrati (uno sulla clavicola e uno sul petto). Questo innesto geometrico è una firma tipica dell'artista, che crea una spaccatura surreale e contemporanea sulla superficie levigata.

"Asclepios" (or Asclepius) is a famous 1988 sculpture by the extraordinary Polish artist Igor Mitoraj (1944–2014).
The work perfectly embodies the master's stylistic signature, expressed through a poetics that combines classical beauty with the vulnerability of the human form.
It depicts a fragmented male bust without a head or arms, inspired by Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine and healing.
The figure recalls the ideal perfection of ancient statuary but at the same time shows its degradation and temporal damage.
Two square inserts are visible on the torso (one on the clavicle and one on the chest). This geometric graft is a signature typical of the artist, creating a surreal and contemporary split on the polished surface.
