Time passes. Money changes hands. What remains?
What Time Buys is a two-panel mixed media diptych — two works conceived and executed together, designed to be displayed as a pair. Across both canvases runs a single visual language: layers of collage built from vintage newspaper fragments in Russian and European scripts, printed euro banknotes, Victorian engravings, steampunk gear mechanisms, antique clock faces in multiple scales, a penny-farneath? rower Penny-Farthing, a reclining Belle Époque figure — all submerged beneath and above layers of amber, gold and terracotta acrylic, with white lace-pattern stencilling recurring across both panels as a unifying structural motif.
The subject is time and value — how they intersect, how they diverge. The clocks measure hours that the banknotes cannot buy. The newspapers record events that the money could not prevent. The woman reclines, indifferent to both. The gold continues to accumulate regardless.
Each panel works independently as a composition. Together they form a complete statement — a before and after, a question and its non-answer, a world seen from two slightly different angles at the same moment.
Technique: Acrylic paint, collage — vintage newspaper prints, banknote prints, vintage engravings, stencil, mixed media on canvas
Style: Contemporary Mixed Media — Steampunk Collage / Neo-Baroque / Conceptual Assemblage
Dimensions: 2 × 40 × 40 cm — diptych
Year: 2026
Edition: Unique — 1/1 — sold as a set

About the artist:
What Time Buys is a work by Corina Dinu, a Romanian artist born in 1979 with formal training in fine arts and design, including studies at Istituto Marangoni. Driven by a lifelong passion for beauty in all its forms, Corina works across painting, sculpture, and fashion — creating objects that are at once technically demanding and visually immediate. This diptych represents her most narrative and conceptually layered work to date — a meditation on time, value and memory built from the detritus of both.
Edition: Unique — 1/1. Signed.
