The photographer: Richard Kern was born in North Carolina in 1954 and has lived and worked in New York since 1979. In the 1980s his short films formed the central works of the Cinema of Transgression. In the 1990s he switched exclusively to still photography, except for directing music videos for Sonic Youth and Marilyn Manson. For more information visit www.richardkern.com.

The editor: Dian Hanson was a 25-year veteran of men's magazine publishing before becoming TASCHEN's Sexy Book editor in 2001. Her magazines included Puritan, Outlaw Biker, Juggs, Tight and Leg Show. Her recent books for TASCHEN include The Big Butt Book, Urban Girls, and Private 1980 - 1989.
