With this square-format work, Medsan reinterprets the sacred theme of the Virgin and Child by substituting Grogu — the “Child” from The Mandalorian, aka Baby Yoda — for the Baby Jesus. Siège on the clouds, draped in pink and blue, haloed by a radiant sun, the Madonna tenderly holds the small green creature against her, while a multitude of winged cherubs surrounds them. The tondo is set in a golden frame adorned with sculpted putti; a cartouche bears the signature « メドサン » (Medsan).

The visual force of the composition lies in its painting treatment imitating Baroque religious painting: soft carnations, ample drapery, descending golden light and angels à la Raphael or Murillo. The antique finish, down to the craquelure and the trompe-l'œil frame, gives the scene the solemnity of a devotional altarpiece.
