About the painting:
This vibrant painting depicts a contemplative scene of a woman enjoying breakfast in a Parisian setting.
The focal point is a young woman with dark hair tied in a bun, sitting at a round table. She is shown in profile, resting her chin on her hand and looking thoughtfully out of a large window. She wears a bright yellow robe adorned with large, colorful floral patterns in shades of pink, blue, and red. The table is covered with a bold red tablecloth and holds a classic French breakfast: a plate with a golden-brown croissant, a white cup of coffee on a saucer, a silver motto pot (French press or coffee pot), a small jar of jam and a vase filled with yellow roses, a folded newspaper with the headline "Le Monde". Through the black iron railing of a "French balcony," we see the classic zinc-gray rooftops and sandy-colored facades of Parisian buildings under a clear blue sky. To the left, a large potted plant with long green leaves adds a natural touch. On the yellow wall hangs a framed poster featuring a blue silhouette, labeled "MATISSE," referencing the famous artist's "Blue Nudes" series. The painting is executed in a post-impressionist or fauvist style, characterized by bold, saturated colors: The dominance of primary colors (yellow, red, blue) creates a cheerful yet nostalgic atmosphere. Thick, textured strokes give the piece a tactile, painterly quality. Many objects are defined by dark outlines, making the colors pop and giving the scene a graphic feel.
About the artist:
My name is Corina Madalina Schröder. I was born in Timisoara, Romania, in 1969 and grew up in the Satu Mare region (Transylvania). I came to Germany at the age of 43. I lived and worked there in Bad Säckingen am Rhein until 2023. The direct proximity to the Swiss border, the central location in Europe and the diversity of the people there gave me many creative influences and so I painted in a very modern and lively way and was able to present my pictures in many exhibitions. (including Germany, Belgium, Italy and Switzerland).
In June 2023 I moved with my husband to beautiful, sunny Spain, to Benijofar, south of Alicante. Here, strongly influenced by the wonderful sea, the great light, the friendliness of the people and the Mediterranean atmosphere, my passion for painting received new impulses.
I love painting. Even as a child, I was fascinated by using pens and brushes. I always went forward courageously, learned a lot and my artistic talent was born into me through my mother, who was a painter and art teacher. So I started not only painting but also creating all sorts of things. Be it sewing, knitting and modeling with clay. I love individual design and today especially expressive painting.
Especially in today's fast-paced times, where people are quick to evaluate and harshly comment, I find it particularly important to be able to calmly and calmly indulge in the joy of one's own creativity. Without “right or wrong” but just completely ME...
Since the beginning, my works have been exhibited in several german and international exhibitions, art salons and galleries, such as: Brugge, Madrid, Venice, Bucarest, Basel, London, Paris etc...
