Norymberga – Złoty ⅛ dukata klippe – ND, około 1700 – Agnus Dei

A miniature gold ⅛ ducat klippe issued by the Free Imperial City of Nuremberg.

The reverse depicts the Agnus Dei, the Lamb of God standing on a globe and carrying a banner. The obverse shows the crowned arms of Nuremberg within a palm wreath. Despite its extremely small size, the principal details remain clearly visible.

An interesting characteristic of this piece is the corresponding weakness and wear at the higher-relief areas above the shield and around the three-tower crest, indicating localized wear to the highest points of the die from continued use — an appealing trace of the early hand-struck production process.

Naturally irregular klippe shape with attractive remaining golden lustre.
