Vintage Blue Opaline Glass Hand Vase – Cornucopia Form – Sculptural Decorative Object – 22 cm
Description
Striking vintage blue opaline glass hand vase, modelled as an elegant sculptural hand holding a dramatically flared cornucopia-style vessel.
The piece has a particularly decorative silhouette: an elongated hand rises from a circular base and grips the central vase, while the upper section opens into a highly expressive ruffled, fan-like rim. The opaque turquoise-blue glass gives the object a strong presence and works especially well in both eclectic and contemporary interiors.
Its design belongs to the long decorative tradition of hand vases and cornucopia-form vessels, objects prized for their combination of figurative sculpture and functional design. The unusual colour and exaggerated upper rim make this example especially eye-catching.
Approximate dimensions:
Height: 22–22.5 cm
Base: approximately 8 × 8 cm
Maximum upper diameter: approximately 11.5 cm
The vase is presented in very good vintage condition. No major chips, cracks or losses are apparent from inspection. As with any older decorative glass object, minor surface traces and manufacturing irregularities consistent with age may be present. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition report.
The interior and underside are also shown so bidders can assess construction, finish and condition.
The vase will be packed carefully for insured shipment.
A particularly decorative example of the classic hand vase, elevated by its vivid blue opaline colour and unusually theatrical ruffled crown. The sculptural quality gives it appeal beyond traditional glass collecting: it works equally well as an accent piece within maximalist, Hollywood Regency, contemporary or curated vintage interiors. Its distinctive silhouette, strong colour and compact display size make it an immediately recognisable and highly photogenic decorative object.
About the seller
The Collector’s Eye
Every item I offer has been chosen for one simple reason: I would be proud to own it myself.
The Collector’s Eye is built on the belief that beautiful objects deserve to be lived with. Rather than specialising in a single category, I curate a carefully selected collection of original paintings, decorative art, vintage writing instruments, luxury accessories, art books and timeless objects that combine craftsmanship, character and lasting aesthetic appeal.
Each piece is chosen not only for its quality and authenticity, but also for its ability to enrich an interior. Whether displayed in a private collection, a thoughtfully designed home, a boutique hotel or a professional interior design project, every object is selected to bring warmth, atmosphere and personality to its surroundings.
I am particularly drawn to objects that tell a visual story: expressive Mediterranean paintings, elegant French interiors, vintage European design, quality writing instruments, luxury lighters, Art Nouveau, Napoleon III, and carefully crafted decorative objects that have stood the test of time, as well as historical portfolios and prints.
Every item is photographed honestly, described carefully and packed with the same attention I would expect when buying for my own collection.
