Opis od sprzedawcy
Charles Folkard - The Arabian Nights
Published by Adam & Charles Black, London, 1913.
An enchanting early 20th-century edition of The Arabian Nights tales, memorable for its rich visual interpretation by Charles Folkard. This edition belongs to A. & C. Black's highly collectible series of illustrated classic stories. It features a strikingly designed pictorial cloth cover depicting an eastern figure smoking a hookah before a silhouetted mosque skyline. Internally, the book is adorned with numerous full-page color plates capturing scenes like The Story of the Enchanted Horse and Aladdin, all complete with their descriptive text captions beneath the artwork.
Condition Report:
Binding & Spine: Bound in the original red pictorial cloth. The front cover art is exceptionally bright and well-preserved. The spine cloth has faded uniformly to a tan/brown shade, with some light rubbing and softening to the spine ends. The binding remains firm and structurally sound.
Interior: The pages are generally clean with clear, bold text. The paper shows natural age-toning and occasional light finger marks or small smudges from handling along the page edges, but is largely free from heavy or invasive foxing.
Plates: The 8 full-page color plates are crisp, vibrant, and in very nice condition.
