Loïc Tuhal (born in 1962) is a contemporary French painter whose work is characterised by a physical, expressive and highly colourful approach to painting.

Regard solaire is an original oil on canvas depicting a female eye in extreme close-up. The particularly intense blue gaze forms the focal point of the composition and contrasts with the explosion of colours surrounding it.

The artist uses a particularly vibrant palette, combining reds, oranges, yellows, blues, turquoise, pinks, whites and blacks. The broad brushstrokes, visible impasto and expressive application of paint give the work great energy and a strong sense of movement.

The representation deliberately moves away from realism, focusing instead on colour, texture and the strength of the painterly gesture. The contrast between the precision of the eye and the highly expressive treatment surrounding it creates a powerful and contemporary composition.
