Christof Vevers, born in 1962, is a Dutch-born painter whose work is largely devoted to Paris and its different atmospheres. Working in an Impressionist approach, he places particular emphasis on light, variations in colour, reflections and the lively character of urban life.

The artist regularly depicts the great boulevards and iconic landmarks of the French capital, favouring vibrant compositions in which architecture, figures and light interact harmoniously.

This work, entitled “Paris, Champs-Élysées – Arc de Triomphe”, depicts a lively view of the Champs-Élysées with the Arc de Triomphe in the background. The numerous pedestrians, cars and trees lining the avenue bring the composition to life.

Vevers’ expressive and generous brushwork, together with the numerous effects of light and reflections on the pavement, dynamically capture the atmosphere of the great Parisian boulevards.
