A M Reyes - “Vuelo Inconsciente"(XXL)

“Vuelo Inconsciente", as a lyrical self-portrait of doubt and merit. The composition, a fusion of figurative realism and expressive brushstrokes, captures a suspended moment where the central figure, a resting dancer, debates between her own perception and the surrounding reality. I built the dancer’s figure with solid three-dimensionality through firm brushwork and vibrant highlights. This technical precision celebrates discipline and the body’s triumph, while warm tones and the pedestal’s solid structure give her a firm and luminous base. By giving this rich, tactile, luminous texture to the bluish wing, I make tangible what the dancer has yet to see, a light-and-volume structure that confirms the absolute certainty of her own potential, unfolded and ready to take flight.
Vida AMReyes. (Granma, Cuba 1991) discovered from a very young age that drawing was not just a pastime, but a way to translate the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the prestigious Carlos Enrique Gómez Academy of Fine Arts. There she consolidated an exceptional technical discipline in oil painting, acrylics and drawing from nature, foundations that later would shape her conceptual signature.
Her early career unfolded amid Cuban cultural effervescence, actively participating in young art salons and group exhibitions. Her work began to stand out immediately: in salons and exhibitions earning numerous awards and mentions.
AMReyes’ work is distinguished by a visceral and imposing realism that captures the gaze instantly. However, her proposal does not stay in mere photographic mimesis. On anatomies worked with rigor or faces loaded with deep psychographic expressiveness, the artist overlays and integrates icons, allegories and conceptual elements: wings that seem invisible to the bearer, suspended threads, dense blocks of color, or garments laden with symbolism. For her, the human body and the everyday figure are the perfect canvas to reflect on identity.
