Antique Portuguese Silver Inkstand – Boar Hallmark (1887–1937) – Ornate Floral and Rococo Decoration –
An elegant antique Portuguese silver inkstand, bearing the Portuguese Boar hallmark (Javali), used between 1887 and 1937, 833/000.
This beautifully decorated inkstand features an elaborate ornamental design inspired by the Rococo style, with flowing scrolls, floral motifs and an impressive raised backplate incorporating a central shield-shaped cartouche.
The silver base is richly embellished with a central flower and scrolling foliage, while the front features a generously proportioned, shell-shaped pen tray with finely detailed radiating fluting.
The inkstand is fitted with two glass inkwells, each with a silver-mounted top. One features a perforated silver cover, while the other has a rounded silver lid.
The combination of the elaborate silverwork, sculptural decoration and delicate glass elements gives this piece a distinctive character, reflecting the elegance of traditional Portuguese decorative silver.
