Imposing mid-century modern biomorphic sculptural vase designed and handcrafted by the celebrated Spanish master ceramicist Joan Carrillo Romero (b. 1948) at his independent studio in Riudaura (Girona, Spain) during the 1970s.This rare collector's piece features a striking architectural, organic silhouette with a flattened discus-shaped body resting on a narrow cylindrical foot, culminating in a distinctive dual-spouted asymmetrical design.The piece perfectly highlights Carrillo's mastery of volatile reduction firing. The main body showcases a beautifully textured, volcanic buff/ochre chamotte stoneware slip, which transitions dramatically near the neck into a rich, deep blue-black metallic reduction glaze that pools naturally around the twin chimneys.
