Opis od sprzedawcy

Aeolis, Myrina.
Ca. 4th-3rd century BC.
Æ (Bronze, 10.6 mm, 0.9 g).

Obv: Helmeted head of Athena left.
Rev: Amphora; M-Y across fields.

Reference: SNG Copenhagen 214; SNG von Aulock 1659.

Myrina, jedna z dawnych miast Aeolu, stała u ujścia rzeki Pythikos na zachodnim wybrzeżu Azji Mniejszej. Będąc członkiem Ligi Delijskiej, później zyskała sławę dzięki hellenistycznym warsztatom terrakotowym, których wyrafinowane figury odzwierciedlają wpływy pobliskiego Pergamonu. Jej terytorium obejmowało sanktuarium Apollina w Gryneion. Po trzęsieniu ziemi w roku 17 n.e. cesarska pomoc pomogła miastu odbudować się za panowania Tyberiusza.
