Very impressive antique Islamic / Ottoman silver ring with a circular carnelian gemstone. The engraving depicts a stylised standing lion, turning its head back over its left shoulder with additional punched or stippled dots in the field. The gemstone is secured in a raised silver setting with a fully closed back construction. Richly engraved and applied foliate and scroll motifs around the bezel, on the shoulders and ring band. Tapering ring band which is finished with a small applied knob in the centre. Outside diameter: ± 28m4 mm maximum Inside diameter: ± 17 - 24,8 mm Height bezel: ± 10,1 mm Condition: Good condition and wearable. The gemstone is well preserved with clear engraving details and minor surface wear consistent with age. The silver setting shows light wear and patina, with no apparent structural damage.
