Neolithic Stone Axe (Unfinished / Rough-out) Culture Neolithic Dating ca. 6000–3000 BC Material Stone (siliceous rock) Dimensions Length: approx. 11 cm Description Neolithic stone axe in rough-out state, shaped by direct percussion and partial flaking. The piece shows a clear bifacial working, with an elongated and slightly triangular profile, tapering towards the cutting edge. The surfaces retain visible percussion scars and areas left intentionally unpolished, consistent with an unfinished or pre-form stage of manufacture. The absence of final grinding and edge regularization confirms that the object was not completed, but clearly intended as an axe rather than a generic tool or natural stone. Condition As found. Surface wear and minor edge losses consistent with age and burial. No modern restoration. Provenance Private French collection, assembled before the 1970s.
