Antique English Sterling Silver Mounted Gentleman’s Walking Cane – London Hallmarked – 1919 – Late Edwardian / Early Art Deco
A classic and authentic English gentleman’s dress cane, fully hallmarked for London and dated 1919, produced in the elegant transitional period between the late Edwardian era and the emerging early Art Deco style.
The cane is fitted with a solid sterling silver knob handle of traditional mushroom form, comfortably weighted and well balanced in the hand. Clear British assay hallmarks confirm London origin together with the date letter for 1919, guaranteeing both age and authenticity. The top is engraved with a discreet period monogram, adding a personal and historical character typical of privately owned pieces from the early twentieth century.
The shaft is crafted from warm honey-toned wood with a smooth lacquered finish, creating a refined contrast with the silver mount and giving the cane a timeless, understated elegance characteristic of formal city canes of the period. The original ferrule remains intact.
The cane remains in good antique condition with light, honest signs of age and careful use. The silver shows minor surface marks and gentle wear, while the shaft presents small scuffs consistent with time. The piece is straight, solid and structurally sound.
A genuine hallmarked London sterling silver cane from the immediate post-war period – elegant, authentic and highly collectible, equally suitable for display or use.
