Ancient Roman Lead Gnostic Amulet with an image of Abraxas with a retrograde inscription ABRA XAC in two lines on the reverse. Greek: ἀβραξάς, was a deity with an Egyptian origin but also adopted in the classical Greco-Roman world even with an important role for a secret society which followed the mysteries and rituals of gnosticism. In good grade of preservation, visible image of Abraxas with head of rooster and snake legs, holding a sword and a shield. The loop is missing (presumably broken in antiquity or unfinished), a short, insignificant edge crack, otherwise, very well preserved with a clear and defined image. Very Rare with an inscription on the reverse in two lines ABRA XAC. Length: 2.2 cm.
