A very impressive Islamic Ottoman/Bedouin style silver-metal ring. It presents a raised bezel set with a black hardstone intaglio showing a male profile, draped, facing left, wearing a helmet or a headdress. The intaglio decoration served as a stamp or a seal, illustrating a protective symbol or the heraldry of the owner. The raised bezel presents a ovoid shape and is decorated on all sides with geometric patterns, partly worn and faded, with a raised trefoil formation at the centre of two sides. The shoulders feature stepped protrusions, reminiscent of an animal head with mouth open. Good solid condition, wearable. Signs of wear consistent with age and use.
