Magnificent WMF Art Nouveau Bonbonnière – Marked WMFM – Hand-painted Glass & Silver-plated Brass – Germany, c. 1886-1903
A rare and authentic collector's piece by the renowned German manufacturer WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik), dating from 1886-1903. This bonbonnière is a superb example of the Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) style.
Maker: WMF, clearly marked "WMFM" on one of the three stylized feet (indicating silver-plated brass).
Glass: Hand-blown glass jar decorated with 4 hand-painted flowers in vibrant purple enamel with gilded accents.
Dimensions: Total height approx. 18 cm.
Glass insert height approx. 8 cm.
Weight: 623 grams.
Condition: Glass is in excellent condition, no chips or cracks. The metal mount shows an authentic patina and natural wear to the silver plating, revealing the warm brass base.
