Islamic Signet Ring – Islamic World – 10th to 13th Century AD
A bronze signet ring featuring an elongated oval bezel decorated with an engraved inscription composed of stylized Kufic-inspired characters arranged within bordered registers. Rings of this type were widely used throughout the medieval Islamic world as personal seals, symbols of status, and expressions of cultural identity. The use of calligraphic decoration reflects the importance of script in Islamic artistic traditions.
The ring is formed with a slender hoop supporting a raised oval bezel. The engraved inscription remains visible despite age-related wear, while a dark brown patina covers the surface. Its elegant proportions and epigraphic decoration make it a representative example of medieval Islamic personal adornment and seal craftsmanship.
