The Hercules statue from Farnese depicts Hercules, the greatest demigod hero in Greek mythology.
Hercules was a demigod born of Zeus and a mortal. He possessed superhuman strength from a young age, but was driven mad by Hera's curse, leading to the murder of his family. Following a divine oracle, he performed twelve seemingly impossible labors for the king—slaying an invulnerable lion, a nine-headed serpent, capturing a mythical beast, clearing a thousand-year-old cattle pen, and retrieving Cerberus from the underworld. He endured endless trials to rid the world of ferocious beasts and tyrants, completing his trials to atone for his sins. In his later years, tormented by poison, he immolated himself, his mortal body consumed by flames, ascending to Olympus to become an immortal god. He symbolizes how mortals, through unwavering will, overcome suffering and ultimately achieve immortality and redemption.
Dimensions: 8 x 5.5 x 17 cm, height 17 cm. Made of cold-pressed ceramic.
