A Bronze Age bronze stylised quadruped figurine, likely a horse, featuring a thin body, long legs and a tail which points downwards. The head displays slightly rounded ears pointing upwards, and an elongated skull. The remnants of what looks like a rider survive on the back of the figurine. Patina, earthly encrustations, and signs of wear to the surface, as consistent with age, such as scratches, pitting, and chipping. All four legs are slightly bent but the figure can stand unaided. Animals are a recurring motif in Bronze Age art and metalwork. The prevalence and intricacy of horse depictions, as well as horse equipment, in Bronze Age bronzes implies a great significance of the animal in the culture. The manufacturers of the these bronzes, though unknown, are widely understood to have been a nomadic people, and horses would have played a crucial role in almost every aspect of life, including transport, warfare, agriculture and religion.
