This original Leinbrock’s “Ideal” D.R.G.M. coffee grinderis a fine example of German domestic coffee-grinding equipment from the first half of the 20th century, dating to approximately 1930–1940. The grinder combines a dovetailed wooden box body with a large bell-shaped brass hopper, steel grinding mechanism and shaped steel crank with wooden handle. Particularly attractive is the original aged surface of the brass, which has developed a warm, naturally varied patina. The grinder is clearly identified in two places. The decorative metal plaque on the front reads “Leinbrock’s Ideal D.R.G.M.”, while the same designation is embossed directly into the brass hopper. D.R.G.M. stands for Deutsches Reichs-Gebrauchsmuster, the German registered utility-model designation used during this period. The upper mechanism incorporates an externally accessible grind adjustment system beneath the crank, allowing the grinding setting to be altered. The hopper also retains its original sliding opening for filling the grinder. The wooden body is traditionally constructed with clearly visible dovetailed corner joints. The original removable coffee drawer is present, including its wooden knob. -Condition: Good antique condition with visible signs of age and use. The wooden body retains an attractive aged surface with scratches, marks and variations in colour consistent with its age. The brass hopper shows natural oxidation, darkening and patina, while the steel components show age-related surface wear. No attempt has been made to remove the characteristic aged appearance. The crank turns and the grinding mechanism is in working order.
