Ancient Roman Bronze Rare Figurine of a Snake crawling over an oval stone 'Omphalos' (the Navel of the World).
Presumably part of a complex of figurines, normally depicted fed by the goddess of health- Salus.
Omphalos was an oval stone, famous in the ancient world as the navel of the world, where the eagle of Zeus (Jupiter) perched to indicate the center of the world.
Intact with a nice black patina.
Rare.
