Large Mid-Century Marbro Hollywood Regency Table Lamp - Hand-Painted Japanese Porcelain Vase. Offered for auction is a magnificent, statement-scale Hollywood Regency table lamp manufactured by the prestigious Marbro Lamp Company of Los Angeles, dating to the late 1950's or 1960's. This exceptional piece perfectly encapsulates the luxurious Chinoiserie and mid-century aesthetic that Marbro was world-renowned for sourcing and assembling for high-end interior designers. The centerpiece of the lamp is an oversized hand-painted Japanese fine porcelain vase. The porcelain features an elegant artistic motif of blooming yellow peonies supported by striking cobalt blue stalks and foliage over a clean, creamy white glaze. The lower rim is finished with a traditional geometric wave border. The porcelain body is mounted on its original, custom-fitted, multi-tiered carved hardwood Asian-style presentation base, which beautifully complements the silhouette of the ceramic work. A critical feature for collectors, this lamp retains its original solid brass dual-socket cluster assembly with independent ball-end pull chains, allowing for adjustable lighting. Crucially, the center brass stem retains its original Original Gold Foil Marbro factory label, firmly establishing its pedigree and authenticity. The brass has aged gracefully, displaying gorgeous, authentic warm vintage patina. The lamp is accompanied by its monumental original 18 in tall drum shade. Vintage shades of this massive scale are incredibly rare to find intact. The upper wire spider frame features heavy-duty gauge wire with a natural, aged patina. Overall height with shade is 38 inches. A truly spectacular piece of mid-century lighting history that is ready to anchor a high-end vintage interior layout. We will carefully wrap and ship it in two separate boxes.
